Want a healthy treat you and your furry friend can feel good about? Feed your dog these. My puppy, Becca, loves ’em.
I should warn you, though, your dog might be a little spoiled after you feed her a few.
Oh, and please don’t add any other ingredients — the dog will love them just the way they are. (Adding certain foods such as garlic, chocolate, raisins or certain types of nuts could be harmful to your pet.)
Margo Morgan, who came up with this recipe based on others she has seen, thinks it’s hilarious Becca knew they were making dog treats before they even started baking in the oven.
Carrot Dog Cookies
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup finely shredded carrots
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 egg
Combine flour, wheat germ and rolled oats in a large bowl. Combine shredded carrots, milk, peanut butter and egg in a medium bowl. Add wet ingredients to flour mixture and stir to form a pliable dough. Add extra flour if the mixture seems too wet. Form into round, tablespoon-size treats and place on a parchment-covered baking sheet. Bake at 355 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool before serving.
